Indonesia's High Fishery Potential Produces Only 10 Million Tons

Indonesia while having a very high fishery potential, its output reached only 10 million tons last year.The output is expected to be raised to at least 12 million tons in 2010,


Minister for Marine and Fishery Affairs Fadel Muhammad said when declaring the fish consumption movement (Gemar ikan) in Denpasar on Sunday.

He said that the 10 million tons are for the daily consumption of the people, and the other part is for export which is very important to raise the country`s foreign exchange earnings. On the occasion attended by Bali Vice Governor AAN Puspayoga, Fadel Muhammad said the movement is expected to boost fish production.
